Chapter Philanthropy
Kappasta
In the fall of 2013 we held our first ever event called Kappasta. Kappasta is a late night food event, serving all-you-can-eat pasta, salad and bread sticks. We raised over $5,000 which was donated to the American Cancer Society.
In the fall of 2014 we again held our Kappasta event, now making it an annual philanthropy event. The event was even better than the year before, raising over $8,000 for the American Cancer Society. We are so excited to see what 2015 brings!
Come this past fall, fall of 2015, we held our third annual Kappasta! We were nervous and excited to see what this years event could bring with the success of the the years prior. We were all blown away by the amount raised and the turn out of our fellow students and greek life members of Indiana University! This year over 500 people came through the doors of our Delta Chapter and were welcomed with Kappa actives dancing, talking, serving food, and even a station to pie a kappa in the face! This successful event was extremely exciting to be at and to be apart of, but the excitement grew even more when the amount made was announced. This past fall we raised over $10,000 which was donated and split equally between our national philanthropy Reading Is Fundamental and Delta Chapters to philanthropies of choice, the American Cancer Society and Im For Ash.
Indiana University Dance Marathon
Kappa Kappa Gamma has been dedicated to IUDM for many years. The organization fundraised over $3.8 million dollars for the 2015 marathon. The sophomore pledge class participated as dancers, some 12 hour, some 24 hour, and some 36 hour. This year we also had many sophomores who were on committees allowing Kappa to stay extremely involved with the dance marathon year round! Alone they raised over $51,000. We dance for those who can't and to honor our fallen angel and sister, Ashley Louise Crouse, who dedicated her short life to helping others through this cause. FTK. ALC. RW.
We are also so excited to have a Kappa on the 2015 Executive Council for dance marathon as well as other members serving as chairs of committees.
